Hey there, my future graduate girlies, is that your dazzling future I can see?

Starting the next chapter in your life is always going to be scary, but look at you go girl, you’ve already come so far. Now that you have finished school, it gets real! You are fully expected to know exactly what you want to do with for the rest of your life at the ripe age of 17, like you have got to be kidding! With every single adult ever being like “these are the best years of your life! "…yeah, right Gary!

I am a firm believer that there is so much more to life than your career, you are not defined by whether you go to uni or not and should always do whatever makes you happy. However, getting started is always the hardest step, I know younger me wished I had a friendly hand to hold and tell me exactly what to do, but the answer is that there is no right or wrong way. Remember it's your life!

This is also a little embarrassing, but anytime I had a “first day” I would blast high school musical Start of Something New to make me feel better and trust me when I say it works every time! I mean if you don't like high school musical get out right now!

Picture this, it was my first day at university. I was freshly 18 and had just cut my own curtain bangs, I think I took starting the year off with a bang a bit too literally! I felt so overwhelmed, so I just sat down on this random table and didn’t know whether to introduce myself or just sit there awkwardly.

So, I did the most logical thing and opened my laptop and the MacBook opening sound blared out on full volume piercing through the silence. I immediately looked up hoping no one would notice and a split second later the whole class started giggling. The people on my table were like “was that you?” and from that moment, everyone started introducing themselves, talking about our degrees and how scared we all were as first years.

The reality of life is that everyone has started somewhere or been in your shoes at some point, all you need is a little giggle to get you started! By no means am I perfect but what I do have in common with a scholarly article is that I am a reliable source of big sister advice hoping to make your uni journey a little better. Its smooth sailing from here ladies!

Talk soon my loves x
